| Rome Plow Company, LLC. Wins Coveted Award | |||||||||
Rome Plow Company, LLC., located in Cedartown, Georgia was
chosen by the American Society Of Agricultural Engineers as one of the
highest ranking entries with their Rome-Pegasus implement and was a winner
of the prestigious 2001 AE50 Award for outstanding innovations.
The Rome-Pegasus is a post-harvest system of managing cotton crop residue. Conventional cotton crop management systems require numerous filed operations to achieve what the Rome-Pegasus does in one pass. The unit is a the three-point hitch mounted tillage implement pulled through soil behind a tractor. As its shank apparatus moves through the soil, a temporary furrow is formed. A forward-mounted root knife cuts the plant tap root and an embedding tool pushes the stalk and root into the collapsing furrow. The cotton residue is buried into a rope-like organic bundle incorporated into the soil. Closing disks cover the material to a uniform seed bed ready for planting next year's crop. All functions are completed in a single field pass. ![]() Rome Plow Company, LLC. was honored at the ASAE Annual International Meeting July 29-August 1, 2001 at the Sacramento Convention Center, Sacramento, CA.
